AM Packing Crew + Farmers Market Position
We are now hiring a dependable and hardworking individual to join Barn and Market Crew. This job is perfect for individuals interested in beginning a career in organic agriculture.
We are currently hiring a full-time team member to work apx. 40 hours a week, Saturday-Wednesday. This is a split position. Saturday and Sunday, this individual would drive to a farmers' market and work a farmers market shift setting up, promoting, and selling organic vegetables. Monday-Wednesday, this position would be working in our barn facilities, helping to wash, sort, and pack orders for distribution to local grocery stores. The ideal candidate for this position has an interest in local agriculture, the Austin food community, and a deep work ethic.

Responsibilities
- Adhere to JBG Farmers' Market procedures
- Drive to weekly farmers market(s) and setup produce display
- Delivery friendly customer service at farmers' markets
- Breakdown at market, and unload market returns and market materials at barn according to procedure
- Receive, process, and package vegetables harvested on the farm according to daily orders
- Pack produce orders according to quality standards
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment and follow all food-safety procedures
- Ensure quality of all produce
- A desire for farm work
- A mantra that “Teamwork doesn’t seem work!”
- Ability and experience driving a variety of vehicles, including large trucks, and manual or automatic transmission (CDL not required, but preferred)
- Valid TX driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Previous farmers' market experience is a plus
- Ability to lift 60 pounds and mobility to ascend and descend the rear end of a box truck
- Ability to load trucks in a timely manner to ensure earliest delivery possible
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to withstand prolonged standing or walking
- $11 hour starting pay. Paid bi-weekly (dozen eggs included) as well as weekly supply of organic vegetables.
